I know this because after meeting Ray for the first time in May of 2004, he told me, "I know something is going on with your mom and I will do everything I can to see that she gets the help that she needs.

I got involved when Adult Protective Services contacted me and told me Sandra had to be removed from her home. Even though she was living with Ray, they thought it was not a safe environment for Sandra. Many neighbors had called Adult Protective Services because Sandra was left home alone most of the day. She would wander the neighborhood, knocking on doors and at other times just sit in her car with the windows rolled up. Sandra was dirty and unkempt, according to neighbors. I asked the court for guardianship over my mother. The court originally awarded guardianship to me and split the conservatorship between Ray and my husband, Brent. Ray would never tell the judge what had happened to all of the money Sandra had before she married him.
